SmartBody is a modular, controller-based character animation system. SmartBody uses the Behavior Markup Language (wiki spec and discussion forum) to describe a character's performance, and composes multiple behaviors into a single coherent skeletal animation, synchronized with spoken audio.
SmartBody is a research project by the University of Southern California's Institute for Creative Technologies and Information Sciences Institute. We are also working in collaboration with other BML working group researchers from around the world.
SmartBody is free to use, but we would appreciate if you letting us know what you create with SmartBody and a reference to our papers in your work. We'll happily include a link back to your work.
